Lent at St Aidan’s 2022
18th February 2022
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, 2nd March, with a Holy Communion service at 10am with the offer of ashing.
Our Lent Course this year is one of the Pilgrim Courses produced by the Church of England, called ‘Church and Kingdom.’ The course looks at how following Jesus each day affects our life at home and at work, our resources and relationships, and how the Christian faith can shape us to become more like Jesus.
The Lent Course is every Tuesday, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th March and 5th, 12th April. We meet in the chapel at 10am for an hour, and the course is repeated at 7.30pm each Tuesday evening. All are welcome.
Mothering Sunday, Sunday 27th March. We have an all-age Parade service at 10am, attended by the uniformed groups, and including a distribution of flower posies. All are welcome. After the service a ceremonial tree planting will take place by the church car park, planting a new tree as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee.
Maundy Thursday, 14th April 7.30pm Holy Communion service, joined by members of St Laurence, Eastwood.
Good Friday, 15th April, 10.30am Messy Church for all ages and families of all shapes. Activities around the Easter theme, crafts, Easter-egg hunt…
Good Friday 2pm Devotional Service, an hour at the cross, reflecting on the meaning of Jesus’ death on the cross, which is at the heart of the Christian faith, using Scripture, music, prayer and reflections.

All are welcome at these services.
